Mountain Sprouts Preschool is a learning environment for children ages 3 through 5 years old. We believe that the role of the child at this early age is to experience the world first hand and maintain a sense of wonder. Our goal is to teach the children naturally by working through the heart not the head. Our curriculum is therefore structured to nurture the whole child by providing hands-on learning and sensory motor experiences that lay the foundation for further learning and intellectual and social development. We provide an environment where children are encouraged and supported in integrating, understanding and expanding their life experiences through five main disciplines – creative play, community, the natural world, practical work, and the arts. The role of the teacher is that of a guide, fostering good social skills, encouraging language and problem-solving skills, and presenting developmentally appropriate activities. In this way, Mountain Sprouts Preschool aims to provide a warm, safe and stimulating learning environment in which the whole child is nurtured…body, mind and spirit.

We have received a Qualistar rating of 3 - the highest rating of all the childcare facilities in Telluride!

Our Staff

We have an experienced and dedicated group of teachers led by Trisha Clement.
Trisha Clement has been our lead teacher since 2007. Trisha was the first assistant teacher under our original founding Director, Sueno LeBlond. She brings her love of art, theater, and organic living to our school.

Trisha grew up in Michigan with her parents and older sister. She knew she wanted to be near the mountains, so she attended school in Grand Junction, CO. When she visited Telluride, she knew it was the place for her.

Trisha started her teaching career working at Rockies and the Telluride Academy over 10 years ago. She enjoys the humor and great spirits of children. Trisha has completed courses in Early Childhood Education through the University of San Miguel and holds a director title.  She values each child's unique personality and is very loving and nurturing. Trisha is supported by Tiffany Taylor, Megan Keever, Amy Thomas and Paige Hardman.

Each teacher strives to create a supportive and challenging classroom atmosphere to encourage students to participate. Mountain Sprouts Preschool also draws from an elaborate pool of talented community resources to act as visiting instructors, including experts in art, music, drama, yoga and karate.
