Time to Rock Out (With Your Kids)
Scribble Jim from
Scribble Monster - www.scribblemonster.com
2 shows - 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Sheridan Opera House
Comedy, concert and silent auction
to benefit Mountain Sprouts Preschool
Why should grown ups get all the fun? When it comes to music,
kids often get the whiny and singsongy end of the spectrum. Not so with ScribbleJim from ScribbleMonster, who will perform
two shows in Telluride at the Sheridan Opera House on January 23, one at 11 a.m. and another at 5 p.m.
The
concerts, which benefit Mountain Sprouts Preschool, will last around an hour, and are aimed at both parents and their 3- to
7-year-old children. There will be refreshments and a silent auction as well, including a 10-11 ski pass, a sky diving package,
festival passes, local artwork and lots of items donated by local businesses. The silent auction will be open from 11 a.m.
until 7:30 p.m.
ScribbleMonster can be heard nationally on children’s radio and their latest release
was named one of the Top 5 Kids & Family Albums of 2008 by NPR. Their “draw outside the lines” approach
to music for the family has earned the band raves ranging from Parenting Magazine, which calls it “a unique brand of
hard pop,” that just happens to “plug healthy eating.”
The live show promises more than
just music. Look for “improvisational comedy, crayons and power-pop.”
“What a great way
to get out and spend some time with your family,” says Robin Jones, board president of Mountain Sprouts. “Everyone
will have a chance to sing, dance, draw and play along during this interactive live show. It’s definitely not just for
kids.”
But the show is all about kids—encouraging them to think creatively, helping them to
make healthy choices, and offering them a great way to engage with their parents on a Saturday. Beyond that, it supports the
families in the Telluride community by benefiting Mountain Sprouts, a preschool dedicated to providing first hand experiences
for 3 to 5 year olds, helping them maintain a sense of wonder and learn to work through the heart, not just the head.
“We provide a holistic, natural and loving environment for the children at Mountain Sprouts. They learn
with reverence and respect for all living things in our world,” says lead teacher Trisha Clement. “And the concert
with ScribbleJim seems like a great way to help share our philosophy and sense of fun with the rest of the Telluride community.”
Named a “Parenting Pick” by Parenting Magazine, ScribbleMonster’s creative play music
concerts stimulate creative expression and showcase each child’s unique abilities.
Cost for the ScribbleJim
concert/comedy/auction is $10 for children 12 and under and $5 for anyone over the age of 12. For more information or tickets,
